Local specialties are special gem
One of the most important cultural finds while traveling is food. I not only like to gaze at the beauty of a fruit and vegetable stand but also check out the pastries. There are a lot of neat regional specialties that are found nowhere else in the world–except in Europe. The pastries are to die for!
Tips for food shots
Most food looks appetizing from a 45 degree angle
If a food item is layered (like a cake), you want to emphasize the layers and shoot straight on
Close-up shots show the detail (sugar or seeds), creating mouth-watering results
Visit a farmers market and explore unique fruits and vegetables from the area
Use a wide angle lens (less than 55 mm) for the best results and don’t be afraid to get close
Shooting food can be a cultural experience and a heck’ of a lot of fun shooting during travels abroad.
